Azure Runes

Death in Port Llast
The Rune-bearers make a fateful journey

The Company of the Azure Runes (including Nym, Josef, Dumiel and Artash) defeat owlbears and lizardfolk who attack them on the road to Port Llast over several days. They are aided by Akaila, a pragmatic ranger/druid who has no qualms killing prisoners.

But in Port Llast, a more formidable adversary ambushes them and all but Nym and Josef are slain.

Luskan Intrigues
Hidden agendas and treachery

Nym and Torn take part in a pirate boarding action by which the Black Knives intend to hurt Kurth’s shipping; the attack is led by Captain Gareth, one of Baram’s trusted cohorts; but the victims turn out to be members of another pirate gang. Baram is deeply troubled by High Captain Rethnor’s involvement in his rival Kurth’s operation, and decides he will push for a formal Council at the Captains’ Court later that month.

An unknown assassin strikes at night attempting to kill the companions, but the heroes fight back and slay him. A house is burned down in the fighting and Dumiel is arrested by the Thunder Fists patrolling the district.

Josef arrives in Luskan and meets his friends; they meet with Neurik and Aarin Gend who give them a quest in Port Llast, a town where Neverwinter and Luskan compete for influence; the party sets out for Port Llast the next day after Nym successfully obtains leave from the Black Knives.

Copper Mines of the Crags
Ever-changing fortunes in a dwarven copper mine

Our campaign’s 1st adventure including Nym Moondown, Torn, Artash, Argent and Dumiel.

As recollected by Nym:
Nym smiled for a moment thinking of all the inns he had visited between here and his
homeland Cormanthor. Had it already been a year since he emerged from the forest and
joined a caravan out of Daggerdale across the Anauroch desert? How many inns had
he stayed in that time? The best ale had been at Ruoyna’s Den the isolated inn north of
Doryn on the Longsaddle road. Nym still remembered the proprietor of the inn, a giant of
a man who went by the name Bear.

It wasn’t long after Nym had left that inn that, he was gifted the sword he was oiling
now. Indeed the Dwarves of the Vision Peaks copper mine had been generous with
their rewards. Nym had helped the Dwarves to over-come their captor, the Drow Cleric
Da’treaal. In addition to this fine masterwork blade, the Dwarves of Vision Peaks had
helped Nym practice his Dwarven. Nym had always been taught that Dwarves were
unruly, surly, and downright un-hospitable. But, he felt differently now. At least he did
toward his new friends.

Nym finished polishing the sword and then opened up the magical sack sitting at his
feet and proceeded to dropped both the stone and the oil cloth inside. He didn’t worry
about finding the items easily again. The magic of the bag was such that if you desired
an item inside the bag, it would somehow always be near the top. But, the real marvel of
this wondrous piece of equipment was how much the sack could hold! Nym had heard
of items such as this when he was still a boy in Cormanthor. In fact his sister possessed a
quiver that could hold many more arrows then it should have.

Thoughts of his sister caused Nym’s face to darken. Some passersby noticed his
displeasure and they quickened their step as they passed by Nym. Nym sighed heavily
and tried to push thoughts of his sister and family far away.

Instead he mused on the magical sack and it’s former owner. Krista Ferns was a bandit
leader that operated out of the small stand of trees known as the “wailing woods.” Nym
and his party had captured her after a vicious battle a couple of days before the Kobold
Akara, led his fellow adventures to the oppressed Dwarves in the Vision Peaks. Dumiel,
Torn, Torn’s brother and Nym had gotten lucky to escape that ambush; much less
capture the leader alive! It was still a sore point that the Longsaddle Militia had let Krista
escape after his group had turned them over to them. Nym shook his head in regret, you
couldn’t control others’ incompetence, the best you could do was bare your own blade for
justice and equality.
