Northsilver Crossing, Aramelle's Diary

Sometime in the middle of the night we get raided. (can’t i have one night’s rest in peace?, I think the next night I’m going to go find some tree roots to go sleep in out of sight) Anyway way I wake up the others.. (doesn’t any of them have ears? it’s a battle for crying out loud) and step out of the tent and see an orc heading right to me. I drop some spells on him and start shooting my bow. (did I mention I got a longbow from the quarter master? kiss kiss (the bow not.. whatever)) I get a shove from behind to get out of the doorway of the tent.. hmm I thought I made 1 step to the side.. next time I’ll be sure to do that… and the 1/2 orc goes roaring past..uhh I hope he doesn’t lose his head. He actually seemed decent. We get through these guys, including the one with a big ol’ halberd and before we get a chance to take a breath another group comes charging up. OHHH.. group!!!!! my turn and I dump Sleep on them. I put enough of them out that they get to take them out in turn and even have a couple still on the ground when they are done. Magic is nice sometimes.. now if I can only do more of it. Study.. study study.. I’ll get there. Just takes time.

So the next day we set out with this job of scouting around looking for a place for the army to cross. Rand thinks he knows where it is and promises that we’ll find it. Me I’m thinking.. he’s not so good in the woods and maybe we won’t, but I keep my mouth shut. We head out looking for the fjord and some scouting team sent before us. We eventually come across some more orcs, some dead bodies of the scouts and (oh right we killed the orcs to give the dead.. what?? carry the bodies.. Rand and this walking mirror want to take the dead with us.. /sigh) Well at least we have horses this time. (now if he will just hold that shield still, I can comb my hair decently) so we start following this trail from these dead scouts.

We keep following this trail, and the ranger eventually loses the path (I’m really starting to wonder about this “ranger” and his skills.. seems more like a guy with a loud voice and a big blade.. useful, but I’m not so sure he’s good at much else. Time will tell.) I spot it again for him and we’re off. But we lose it again a right away. Of course now everyone has trampled and even I can’t find it. /sigh
Another group of orcs and we kill them and we eventually find the river.. in a different location from where Rand said it would be. (are we really sure he’s a ranger?) So we start on back up the river to tell the army where the fjord is. Did I mention we’ve lost a horse now? Seems the walking mirror doesn’t like them.. (and I thought he was supposed to have a special affinity for them or something.. go figure) We are moving along and suddenly we’re attacked again, only this time my horse seems to be wrapped up in vines. So does everyone else’s except Rand.

I turn around and start shooting my bow. We kill some nature type magic user and a friend or hers. We strip the corpses and decide that since we lost another horse we’ll send Rand on alone and we’ll stay and camp and rest. We’re pretty beat up.. even I got hit this time. We make camp.. sure enough .. my watch something comes around.. I wake everyone up, we shoot it a few times and it runs off. /sigh.. Just one night peace and quiet.. is that too much to ask. Next day we see Rand coming pell-mel for us and he tells us the troops aren’t too far behind but they are pretty beat up. We lead them to the fjord and camp on the other side of the river.

Now.. I really want that nights sleep so I’m going to go find a tree with a nice empty space under it that hasn’t any creature calling it home for this season and I’m going to sleep 1 night no matter what happens outside.
